Update: | Compliance Alert - Generation of E-Way Bill without E-invoice details no longer allowed |
Date: | 2024-01-09 |
The Indian National Centre of Informatics has recently conducted a thorough analysis of the processes undergone by taxpayers in India when it comes to both e-invoicing and e-way bill requirements. While the two systems are seamlessly integrated, the standard practice has deviated from including transportation details when generating an invoice and simultaneously generating an e-way bill. In many cases, e-waybill details are entered separately from e-Invoice details causing mismatches in the e-waybill and e-Invoice statements.
To avoid further occurrences in the future, the Indian government has decided to adjust requirements around the document types. From 1 March 2024, e-waybill generation will no longer be allowed without e-invoice details. This will apply to B2B transactions and exports.
B2C transactions and non-supplies will continue to operate as they always have before the new requirements previously mentioned.
