Technical Note 2024.001, version 1.00, has been published, containing crucial information to enhance the Electronic Tax Document Manifesto (MDF-e) and adapt it to current legislation.

What are the key changes?

The following updates should be mentioned:

  • New time limitation on access keys associated with MDF-e; A deadline has been established for indicating access keys in the MDF-e, to improve the system in response to automatic occurrences during the transportation of goods. The deadline is set at 6 months.
  • Change in the rules for validating road vehicles; Introduction of specific validations for road vehicles, including the validation of licence plates with the National Traffic Secretariat (SENATRAN) body and requirements related to the type of wheelset and traction vehicle.
  • Termination by Carrier – Event Registration System Rules; Establishment of new rules for closing events by the carrier, including CNPJ/CPF verification and the requirement to enable the database to issue the MDF-e.
  • Deadline for cancelling the MDF-e generated by the Easy Invoice (NFF) application; Inclusion of new validations, considering the cancellation period of the MDF-e with NFF issuance type (tpEmis=3), with a period of 168 hours.
  • Deactivation of the Asynchronous Service; According to the MDF-e Taxpayer Guidance Manual (MOC), the asynchronous batch web service and the batch response query service (MDFeRecepcao and MDFeRetornoRecepcao) will be disabled until 30 June 2024.

Implementation deadline

  • Approval environment (company testing environment): 11 March 2024;
  • Production environment: 8 April 2024.
