The Brazilian Tax Authorities have recently published Technical Report 2024.001 – version 1.00, unveiling updates to the NCM - Common Mercosur Nomenclature (Pt.: Nomenclatura Comum do Mercosul) table, effective from 1 April 2024, 1 July 2024, and 1 August 2024.
The main changes are as follows.
- Shift in Communication: Future NCM changes will be announced through Technical Reports (IT) instead of Technical Notes (NT), streamlining the communication;
- Impact on NCM Table: Resolution Gecex no. 563/2024 modified the validity of Resolution Gecex no. 547/2023, affecting the NCM table published in Technical Note 2016.003 v. 3.70. Notable changes include the extension of NCM code 02071400 validity until 31 July 2024 and the initiation of new codes (02071411, 02071412, etc.) on 1 August 2024.
Additionally, Resolution Gecex no. 561/2024 introduced further NCM alterations:
- NCM 85045000 discontinued from 30 June 2024;
- New inclusions from 01/07/2024: 48119020, 85045010, 85045090.
Other changes outlined in Technical Note 2016.003 version 3.70, such as NCM discontinuations on 31 March 2024 and new additions from 1 April 2024, remain unchanged.
