On 4 March 2024, the DIAN (Dirección de Impuestos y Aduanas Nacionales) announced Concept 1509, clarifying certain obligations of electronic billing issuance.
According to the clarification provided in Concept 1509, the Spanish language and the Colombian peso must be used in the generation of electronic billing systems.
Although there is no expressed prohibition to invoices in dollars or any other currency, the sales invoice in Colombia must contain operations in Colombian legal currency, that is, the peso issued by the Bank of the Republic.
