The Santa Catarina State Finance Department (Sefaz-SC) has announced that the Fiscal Authorizing Device (DAF) will no longer be required to issue NFC-e (Electronic Consumer Invoices) in the state.
The DAF, similar to São Paulo's SAT hardware, was initially planned for use during contingency situations. However, after consultations with hardware developers and considering cost reductions for taxpayers, Sefaz-SC decided to eliminate this requirement.
The Tax Administration Directorate (DIAT) concluded that the issuance and authorization of NFC-e will now rely solely on the existing Fiscal Application Program for issuing Electronic Consumer Invoices (PAF-NFC-e software), which remains mandatory. The only change is the removal of the DAF for contingency issuances.
