Following Governmental Decree no. 273/2007 and Governmental Decree no. 19/2009, e-invoicing and archiving became mandatory for energy trades and the supply of natural gas in non-retail customer transactions as of January 1, 2025.
Business entities in energy trades and the supply of natural gas sectors must issue only e-invoices to businesses.
Format and infrastructure requirements
There are no stipulations regarding the format for the e-invoices or the infrastructure for the exchange. Thus, it will be permitted to use any e-invoicing method currently allowed by the Hungarian Tax Authority.
Timeline
The mandate will enter into force on January 1, 2025.
