On December 5, 2024, the Finish parliament passed Law 691/2024, changing the VAT rate on certain goods from 10% to 14%.
Goods and services in scope
Goods and services affected by the raise from 10% to 14% VAT include:
- Animal feed and feed mixtures, including raw material used in the production of such;
- Passenger transport;
- Transfer of user rights to accommodation premises and ports of call;
- Pharmaceutical products, menstrual and incontinence protection, and baby diapers;
- Books (physical and digital);
- Entrance to sports, theatres, museums, circuses, amusement parks, fares, animal parks, cinemas, concerts, exhibitions, or similar cultural events or usage of sports facilities;
- Live streaming relating to activities mentioned in the previous point, or pertaining to lessons of physical exercise;
- Renumeration relating to copyright.
Timeline
The increase in VAT for the goods and services in scope came into force on January 1 2025.
