Compliance Alert - The validation of Finnish e-invoices compliant with the European Standard starts on 6 April 2021

Update: Compliance Alert - The validation of Finnish e-invoices compliant with the European Standard starts on 6 April 2021
Date: 2021-03-29

Starting from 1 April 2021, the Finnish Government only accepts the e-invoices in line with the EU Standard EU16931.

Companies need to ensure that invoices sent to the public entities from 1 April 2021 meet the European Standard requirements.

E-invoicing operators will start to validate invoices on 6 April 2021.

The most recent national electronic invoice format descriptions (Finvoice 3.0 and TEAPPSXML 3.0) are compliant with the European Standard.

The validation rules are strict. If an invoice does not pass the validation, it will not be delivered to the recipient, and the sender will receive an error message asking to correct the invoice.

If companies are unable to send an invoice in accordance with the European Standard within the required timeframe for a justified reason, they must make a separate agreement on a transitional period with the Agency.
