| Update: | Compliance Alert - Reduced standard VAT rate of 16% is expected in the Azores |

Published on 31 May 2021, the Regional Legislative Decree No. 15-A/2021/A included under chapter X a reduction of the standard VAT rate in the Portuguese autonomous region of Azores.
The new standard VAT rate is proposed to be 16%, starting from 1 July 2021.
Please note that amendments to the Portuguese VAT Code are still to be made for this new standard rate to become effective.
The intermediate and reduced VAT rates in the Azores will remain unchanged at 9% and 4%, respectively.
