Compliance Alert - Cross-border e-invoice reporting mandate postponed until 1 July 2022

Update: Compliance Alert - Cross-border e-invoice reporting mandate postponed until 1 July 2022
Date: 2021-12-06

On 3 December 2021, the Italian Senate Committee approved the Tax Work Decree (It.: Decreto Fisco-Lavoro), linked to the 2022 Budget Law (DL 146/2021).

One of the key changes includes the postponed requirement for the cross-border e-invoice reporting via SDI, which was planned to be introduced on 1 January 2022.

According to the new timeline, Esterometro will be abolished and replaced by invoice reporting to SDI on 1 July 2022.

As the Decree implies urgent measures for economic and fiscal matters, it is expected to be approved by the Chamber and passed into law by 20 December 2021.

However, business operators who wish to switch to transactional invoice reporting instead of Esterometro can do it already now, without waiting until July 2022.
